Happy New Year! OK OK. Happy September 1!!!

September 1 always feels a little bit like a new year to me.

When I got home from dropping the kids off at school I started the coffee and then went around opening the windows and turning the air conditioners off.

Never mind that the forecast for middle Georgia is 95 with quite noticeable humidity.

I do this every year.  I'm so ready for fall I try to rush it.

It never works.

By 10:30 this morning the windows were closed and the air was back on.  Still, when I walked the dogs a few minutes ago I could still feel the change coming.

I'm with you--only opposite. I have been spent the entire freezing summer with all my windows open, huddled under blankets.

Labor Day is definitely my mental transition day.

I've still got another week until my kiddos get started up here. And I love my air conditioned.

That made me laugh out loud. Come and visit me! We had the wood stove cranking all day yesterday and I just fired it up again.

It isn't coming fast enough for me. However, when it gets really cold I will be whining about that too.

We're in the 3 week of school and I'm STILL loving the novelty of making coffee by myself. Reading the paper by myself. NOT turning on the music. NOT hearing the TV. NOT settling squabbles.
It's so freaking lovely!

This is the beginning of the new year, isn't it (and come to think of it, isn't Rosh Hashanah [the Jewish New Year] next week?). New clothes...fresh school supplies...new beginnings--this is my favorite time of year!

It's finally cool here tonight and I'm ridiculously happy about that. But 90 again on Monday. September is a tease.

Happy September right back at ya! I couldn't agree more and laugh because we opened our windows this past weekend - and I'm right here in the Atlanta area myself. Hurry up fall!

September is my favorite month, always. It has a sweetness and energy to it that refresh me and make me feel whole.

September is TOTALLY the new year for me! I've always cycled with the educational calendar more than the Gregorian one.

Partially because my birthday is in August, so I start my new age then. And now that I work in education, my job is completely school cycle dependent.
