Miscellaneous Friday

I can't believe I just spelled miscellaneous on the first try.

Just a quiet day. The boys had the day off and I took the day off as well. Finally made it to yoga this morning. This afternoon we saw Horton Heard a Who. It was good and cute and fun. It's incredible to me that my children are at the age where we can say "Hey, we should go to the movies this afternoon" and it doesn't involve major logistical planning.

I cleaned. Just a little. Did the grocery shopping, stopped at St#rbucks, made dinner and now I'm thinking about doing a little sewing.

Last weekend I finished this (sorry for the blurry photo):

It's 14 square inches, made up of 16 two-inch squares and 4 four inch squares. Each square has about 14 pieces of fabric. I little crazy. But now I want to make a large quilt made up of these blocks.

It's crazy small and has no purpose at all, but it was a blast to make. Which I guess is the point....

That IS beautiful. I'm even more appreciative of it because I have ZERO talent in producing such things. I can cook like a madwoman, but I can't sew.

I was thinking of you all day, Panic. If I'd played your drinking game, I figure I'd have been good and sauced by about 12:30 (and I was gone for an hour in the morning)! The calls started at about 9:05 and went non-stop, at about two or three an hour, all day. HIC!

THAT is beautiful. (Sorry, was just working backwards through that sentence with the all caps, which are very deserved.)

Do you have any other drinking game ideas? How about one where every time someone says Mommy, Mom, or Mama, or Ma! then you take a drink.

Oh, wait, I already do that.

You made that? OMG. That is amazing. If I did it I would wear it around and point to it all day. It is really pretty and looks impossible...how cool.

Congrats on the spelling...I wouldn't have fared as well.

I am in awe of your sewing talents! Lovely, lovely!

O.K., that "Horton hears a Who" has got me interested. I have always loved the book. We haven't taken the kids to a movie yet...

That is truly beautiful. Looks to me like it would be perfect placed underneath a vase of flowers... just a thought. You are one talented woman!

How incredibly fabulous! I love it! I can imagine how much fun it must have been. (Even though I've never done anything in that realm.) And the sense of accomplishment.... Thanks for posting the picture!

Oh, I really like that a lot!! It's wonderful.

We finally got to the point where we didn't have to do any planning to go to movies or dinner or even the grocery store and then we had a baby. Silly us!

Clearly you do not need any anti-anxiety medication, or anything to steady the hands, or create patience, or suffer from color blindness....

Unfortunately, as someone who may or may not suffer from all of these maladies, I can only stand back and admire your effort and try to mentally calculate exactly how many more of those little squares you're going to have to put together to get a quilt big enough to cover a bed??!!!

Sheesh! I'm going to go make myself a calming drink (something with a resortative, like vodka) and sit outside on the bench in the garden where it's nice and quiet.

It's GORGEOUS! You could frame it or make it into a pillow, couldn't you? I can't even imagine having that much talent...or PATIENCE, for that matter... :)

So pretty and you've got something to be proud of, so even if a quilt is never made, at least you'll have that!

Plus, you're a poet, so that's something to be proud of as well!

O.K., had to come back and tell you that I am practially ORGASMIC over the fact that Horton has rave reviews and is rated G!! Will you email me and let me know if it has any scary parts? I want BOY & GIRL's first venture to a movie theater to be positive. :)

I love it. I'm a quilt fanatic.

Awesome quilt block! I can scrapbook intricate pages, but anything involving fabric, thread and a needle freak me OUT! You must have an umlimited amount of patience!
